MICHAEL J. LOWE O.D.

Grosse Pointe Optical (Bayne Optical) has been serving the Grosse Pointe community for over 50 years, and is well known as a location to find unique quality eyewear at reasonable prices. 

In 2000, Dr. Michael J. Lowe joined the practice and installed state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to enable the delivery of comprehensive eye examinations. Since that time the inventory of eyeglass frames has tripled.  This enables us to deliver the "look" that you want.  Dr. Lowe is a life-long east sider (born in BonSecours hospital and presently residing in Harper Woods.) His credentials include, a Bachelor of Science degree from Oakland University, and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago.

Comprehensive Eye Examinations

Our comprehensive eye examinations include:  1. Refraction of the eyes for spectacles or contact lenses (special measurements of the eyes are made to ensure proper fitting of contact lenses.) We fit bifocal contact lenses and other specialty fits like keratoconus.  2.  Evaluations for computer glasses (testing has revealed computer vision syndrome is real).  We have the newest method for testing computer vision syndrome.  The PRIO system is the only one endorsed by the American Optometric Association to help prescribe the proper spectacles for computer use.  3.  Extensive examination of all ocular structures to inspect for eye diseases including but not limited to Glaucoma, Cataracts, Retinal Holes/Tears/Detachments, Age-related Macular Degeneration, etc. 4. Refractive surgery consultation  (Dr. Lowe will inform you if you are a candidate for any of the refractive procedures). 5. Summary consultation of examination findings.
